New Life
May 2, 2012
Spring is the time of year that God reminds us of the New Life we have in Him.
Mark 13:28 NKJV – “Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender, and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near.”
In the midst of telling us about the signs of the end times, Jesus gives us this example of spring, a sign that summer is near. He begins the chapter with a prophechy about the Temple and it destruction which was fulfilled in 70 AD. Throughout the rest of Mark ch13 He tells of things to come at the end of the age, the end of times.
Jesus uses the example of the fig tree to tell us that when we see these things take place that we should know what is coming. In the end He warns us to “watch”. Are we watchful of our times? Are we looking up towards our redemption or looking down on our circumstances? A good watchmen is one who is observant, focused on his task, looking up and scanning his area. We should be watching for opportunies to share Jesus, and avoid the snares of the enemy.
It all starts with Jesus. Romans 10:10 NKJV – “For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Through this He offers New Life. Eternal Life. 2Corinthians 5:17 NKJV – “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
Let us walk in this New Life in Jesus.
